SouL 2

This would be considered my 6th game in the RPG Maker game that I created. The reason this is named SouL 2 was that SouL 1, 2, 3, and 4 were all made on RPGMaker 95; however, I felt the need to "remake" this title.    This dates back to 2006. I made this game when I moved into my first apartment, and I was heavy into JRPGs on the PS2, Battlefield 2 on the PC, and Toonami.  (There's a scene that's based on S-CRY-ED cause that anime was super cool).  Once I finally completed it and went back to play it years later, I realized there was a massive difficulty spike in the game, and the player felt massively underpowered and was forced to use their MP skills to do any kind of damage. I went back and made an update in 2021 once I realized I still had this game hidden away on a USB drive.  A few years later, I replayed in 2025 and still felt massively underpowered, so I raised a bunch of the equipment's stats, and it feels much better to this day.   I also added an NPC that details some of the events of my life and explains the update needed for certain areas.   

Story

The story is about a Dragoon in training who is sent out on a mission to get the Fire Crystal. When he returns to the school, one of his fellow classmates takes the Crystal, who is unable to control it, so Kaze attempts to stop him but ends up killing him in the end. A few students and teachers walk in towards the end, seeing that Kaze just killed his classmate and "stole" the Crystal, so he gets banished from the school and is forced to go on a journey. The Crystal speaks to Kaze telepathically and guides him on a journey to find the remaining crystals. 

Gameplay

Battles are traditional turn-based, and Talents are learned by leveling up. Magic can be obtained by purchasing Orbs in shops. Equipping the Orbs allows you access to the Spells.  Some characters can use both White/Black magic; some can only use one or the other. Each Character has a unique skill that only they can use. 

• Kaze can use "Fury Break" but only when his HP gets below a certain percent
• Zane can use " Transform, to allowing him to play a Paladin with White Magic, or a Dark Knight with Black Magic.
• Whisper can use both White/Black magic, while also being able to use AoE Magic
• Mystic is a Red Mage with both White/Black Magic, and can use elemental Balls to throw at the enemy.
• Plasma uses Guns, which can be upgraded in town (There's only one town to upgrade guns in)
• Aura is a hidden character who can use elemental Attacks (Fire, Ice, Lightning Blade)

Features

• There is a small CMS (Custom Menu System) that allows you to change party members and upgrade Plasma's Guns.  
• You can equip two weapons and become a heavy physical damage dealer, or equip two orbs and spam Magic spells.
• Fly an Airship around the world
• Plenty of Endgame content

Requirements

You will need to use the emulator EasyRPG, as this game uses the old RTP files. Since then, many files have been missing, and you will crash.  Use the emulator. 

Bugs

It pains me to admit this...but there's one nasty spell bug in this game, and that's the name of "Giants".  It's spelled "Gaints"; no, this was done purposely, it's because I suck at spelling.  Yes, I was 19 at the time and should have known better, but I've never been known for my spelling ability.  As far as game-breaking bugs, there shouldn't be any.  There's a cave based on a scene from S-CRY-ED, where you would get trapped, be under-leveled, and could not purchase items, but that was recently resolved by me placing an item shop in there in the 2025 update.
